Is that even a real fucking question? Uh, you know, no biggie it’s just one of the most influential and highly regarded skateboarding companies, ever. Founded in 2000 by Andrew “The Boss” Reynolds, Baker Skateboards is known for its second-to-none professional team, legendary videos, and overall reckless attitude. The team includes such hallowed names as Dustin Dollin, Kevin “Spanky” Long, Elissa Steamer, Rowan Zorilla, Bryan Herman, and Kader Sylla. It’s as close as modern skateboarding is to punk. Thanks to its carefully maintained rebel image, Baker Skateboards and Apparel have generated a cult following that lasts to this day. If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, we strongly recommend getting your shit together and watching at least Baker 2G and Baker 3.
What does Baker even mean?
Parental advisory! It’s got nothing to do with pastry. See, when Baker launched, it was a different time. Back then, major board companies could get away with glorifying binge drinking, doing drugs, and all sorts of shenanigans that would be considered “unsafe” by today’s standards. Hell, the Piss Drunx, as skateboarding’s most notorious skate crew. They were featured prominently in the videos Baker Bootleg and Baker 2G and closely affiliated with Baker Skateboards. Mainly because Reynold’s was arguably the gang’s supreme leader.
Will I be the most radical dude when I buy Baker?
Yes, certainly. Buying Baker Boards is the most surefire way to be considered a real skateboarder by your peers. However, this path to glory comes with a substantial caveat. If you buy Baker Skateboards online or at our store in Frankfurt, you swear under penalty of skateboard law that you know how to frontside flip. Note that this only applies to the boards, not apparel. Unless you’re an inline skater. In that case, you have absolutely no business sporting the Baker Skateboards logo, soul grinds or no.
